New Shop Samples

Greetings from beautiful snowy Vermont.
Yes this is my backyard, if you look closely you will see Gracie at the top of that huge pile of snow next to the back porch. Here are the latest shop samples...

This is the "Playing Dress Up"pattern by Renee Plains using Lakehouse Dry Goods fabric by Holly Holderman. I was so charmed by her "Dress" quilt at Market in October, I just had to make my own version.

Heather Bailey's "Pop Daisy" fabric for Free Spirit was a perfect choice for this very easy pattern, "Sweet Pea" from Blue Underground.

This is a "Skinny Table Runner" from the book with the same name, showcasing Kaffe Fasset's large prints.

Jane Sassaman's series of seasonal applique wall hangings are knock-outs! This one is "Winter". I have some of her wonderful fabric from Free Spirit that will make the other season's wall hangings just gorgeous. This was a lot of fun to make. I always use fusible web for my applique projects and then machine stitch.

This is a detail of a table runner showing off this sweet fabric called "Hoodie's Collection" by Blank Quilting. I made matching place-mats, very retro.

The other prints include, coffee and tea pots and spoons and forks, very cool colorways.

This was pieced and quilted by Judith Ackerman using her own log cabin interpretation and Mark Lipinski's "Califon" fabric. Together, Jude and I made 4 quilts using this fabric in both colorways. We have some funny pictures of us with these quilts to send to Mark. I just received his new line for Northcott, "Krakow" in the blue and green colorway. It is so fresh and fun.

And, just for the record, I finally finished this pinwheel quilt from 2 years ago!

Oh, and by the way, I am really enjoying two new books from C&T Publishers, "A Touch of Felt" by Lynne Farris and "Fabulous Fabic Art with Lutradur" by Lesley Riley. Lutrador is an exciting new fabric that looks and feels like translucent paper but doesn't tear or fray. It can be used in all kinds of exciting ways for art quilting. I have a wide array of art supplies for an art quilting workshop. As for the needle felting- wow, right now I am making a wool scarf using over-dyed wool from "Weeks Dye Works" with wool roving and a needle tool. It is great fun to switch between quilting and crafting. As long as I can work with fabric I'm in heaven!

Remember, you can click on any image to enlarge it.

See you at the new shop in March! Whoopee!

Below Zero

It has been really, really, cold this month. I have been able to do a lot of sewing. Samples, samples! I will post pictures shortly.

Today the painting begins at the shop. The guys have finished the taping and Andrew has started to apply his special finishing to the drywall. Everything will be painted a color called "Coconut" (Pratt Lambert) and the trim is called "Architects White". At the end of this week we will move the "Handi-Quilter Sweet 16" over. I could actually be long arm quilting at the shop by the end of next week! I have so many tops to quilt.

Lots of fabric, books and patterns have been coming in. Valorie Well's "Urban Flannel", In The Beginning's "Feathered Friends", Louella Doss's "Hot Flash", Jane Sassaman's "Prairie Gothic" and from the Japanese company Lecien the most wonderful softly colored tiny prints, fabulous neutrals and black and whites from Esentials and "Simply Red" from Paintbrush Studios. That is just to name a few.

I am planning lots of workshops and classes based on all the wonderful new books and patterns I have been reading.

I just can't wait to begin!
