| May 08, 2009 Three Weeks Old Hi Gang, Well, the Shop is now 3 weeks old. It took nine months to get here and just like a real baby once we opened I was a bet overwhelmed!! But... The response has been fantastic!! Everyone that comes in is very excited and inspired by the beautiful fabric, the shop samples, great patterns, books, notions, gifts and craft supplies. I am feeling very encouraged. Here is Dianne, Judith and myself on opening day. We have a very talented staff of part time employees. They are all sewers and have very unique and diverse skills to offer our customers. Judith, Dianne, Lynn and Kelly have made wonderful tote bag and apron samples that show off our different patterns and fabric lines. We have started "Open Sewing" on Tuesdays. For a $5 fee sewers can use the classroom and work on any project in progress. Classroom sewing machines are available if reserved in advance. Gracie, is the"Shop Dog in Training" and is doing a wonderful job as official greeter and hand licker. Everyone is just so happy to be here and have such a wonderful place to gather and sew! Not to mention having another fabric shop in this area! We are getting a lot of attention from the local media and have had some great press. We are planning summer classes and I will keep you posted. We would like to know what classes you might like. We will definitely have a tote bag class, an apron class and art quilting workshops. I would like to teach "Paper Roses" by Allison Designs, what a striking quilt. And it is easy enough for a 12 year old to sew. Another great beginner project is the "Easy Bake" Pattern by Me and My Sister Designs. We are planning a "Pin Cushion of the Month" series as well as a "Block of the Month". For the more advanced sewers I want to persuade Kim from the "Colonial House Inn" in Weston to teach "Tumbling Blocks" with no "Y" seams. We have so many ideas! Happy Mother's Day!
