Every Tuesday from 10:30-3:30 is Open Sewing for $5 sew with friends or make new ones. No Instructor but we do pop in and out to give our "2 cents" whenever asked! Pennyrugs07&1stsnow 026 Wool Pin Cushions National Pillowcase Challenge-Friday, January,15th-1-4pm, Free This is a National Challenge to make 1million pillowcases for Charity. We will contribute our pillowcases to local charities.  Patterns & Fabric will be provided. Limited to 12 participants. "Kwik Krazy Quilt"- Saturday- January 16th- 10:30-4:30pm  Art Quilting Workshop- Embellished Crazy Quilt Block- Friday, January,22-10:30-4:30  New Club "Stash Pot Pie" First quilt is "Queen of Tarts". Saturday- January, 23-10:30-4:30 Use up your fabric stash to make these scrappy,lap size quilt tops. Cut your fabric before class so you can finish a top in a day! No More UFO's! Limited to 12 sewers per class. This is a 12 month club. You can sign up for any 3,6 ,9 or 12 classes. And yes, there is food involved. We will serve a delicious pie or tart each session and you will get a copy of the recipe to take home!  "Queen of Tarts""Woodland Butterfly"- Friday- January, 29th- 10:30-4:30pm  Deb Tucker's "Carolina Lily"-Saturday- January 30th-10:00-4:30pm. This class is part of a wonderful retreat weekend at the Colonial House Inn. Kim Seymour (inn keeper) will provide food (so wonderful!) and lodging for our out-of town guests. Among them is our new Trunk Show from the "Big Fork Pattern Co." In stock we have complete kits for three of their fabulous fusible applique art quilts.    "Chicken's Date" " Crow's & Apples" "Patchwork Crows"   "Dancing Chickens" These kits come complete with batik fabrics from "Batik Textiles". Call the shop for pricing. Over Thanksgiving my family visited the "Taylor Farm" here in Londonderry. My 3 year old neice, Olivia was astounded by the real cows she could pet.  Olivia with her mommy, Becky. I made a "Vermont Quilt" for Olivia in flannel with lots of farm animals. She loved to count the chickens!   Counting chickens, one, two, tree, twenty, four, ten! Back to more treasures at the "Wheel House". Look at these complete kits from Windham Fabrics celebrating the quilts from "Gee's Bend".   We are carrying four different quilt designs. The kits are $70 and the fabric is hand dyed. These are copies of the original quilts. Included is the individual story of the woman who made each quilt.  Make a fabric Nursery Book for your favorite toddler. This is a complete panel project. We also have coordinating fabric for a quilt.  Just in, brand new in December, this book is a wealth of small projects for the home sewer. Remember we offer 10% off all books everyday.  Just in are the "Dimples" blender fabrics from Andover Fabrics. Above is the quilt made with these wonderful richly colored fabrics. I will be making kits for this quilt very soon.  Pictured here are some of these beautiful fabrics. We have complete bundles packaged for your sewing pleasure! They coordinate well with all fabrics and can help to fill in the gaps in your fabric stash. Our "Snap Sack" for December is a super quick project. For $12.99  Cute, huh? The shop is decorated for the holidays and bursting with gifts for your favorite sewer. We are also selling our Fall shop samples in case you run out of time to make that handmade holiday gift. You can also give family members a hint that you would just love a gift certificate to the shop. Judith and I are busy planning our January and February class schedules. We will be having a class every Friday and Saturday each week. Details for these classes are coming soon. Among the offerings will be: "Sew Simple Pineapple Quilt", "Quilts Without Corners", "Sew Simple Attic Window", "Carolina Lily Wall Hanging", "Hidden Nine Patch", "Kwik Krazy Quilt", "Dresden Plate Sunflower Table Runner", "Storm At Sea Quilt"and more. These classes are based on learning new techniques. Pictures of each project will be posted soon. Every Sunday afternoon in January and February from 1pm-4pm we will be offering a Finishing School. On these afternoons for a small fee you can bring in any project or start a new one. These sewing sessions will be led by Shelley or Judith. This is a great opportunity to learn new sewing and quilting skills. These sessions are different from "Open Sewing" as these are staffed by an Instructor. We will be offering a 3 part Mystery Quilt program starting the 2nd Saturday in January. There are 3 clues. We will have samples of fabrics that can be used to make this stunning quilt or you can decide on your own and pull from your stash. Members of the $5 Quilt Club meet on these Saturdays and can stay for Mystery Club to get your clues. There is a $25 registration fee for this club and members must purchase or use their own fabric. Clues can be mailed to our out of town customers. More details will follow. The fourth Saturday of each month we will be giving our dedicated quilters the perfect opportunity to use up their stash of fabric. This program is called "Stash Pot Pie". And, yes, there is food involved! On each Saturday from 10:30-4:30 we will make a whole quilt top made from your scraps. Each quilt has a theme and is teamed with a delicious recipe that we all must sample! Participants do their cutting at home and sew the quilt top in class. This program is "Scrap-o-licious"! This is a twelve month program, but you can pick and choose the months you wish to participate. There is a fee for each class, but if you preregister for future sessions you will get a discount on the class fees. More details will follow. The second Thursday of each month will feature "Working with Wool". Dianne will teach several techniques and projects that involve wool felt, wool roving, embellishment and more. Every Third Friday of each month will feature an "Art Quilting Workshop". Shelley will teach art quilting methods and a small project will be completed in each session. Whew! What a busy time of the year and we are just busting with ideas to offer our customers more interesting classes, workshops and opportunities to sew with friends. And we are committed to bring to our shop the best in fabrics, notions, books and patterns. We always have the latest and greatest at the Waterwheel House Quilt Shop.
