| August 27, 2011 Autumnal August There is Fall in the air in Southern Vermont. The leaves are starting to change. What a perfect time to get those sewing projects in order! We are so excited about some new arrivals here at the WWHQS. It seems like we have been waiting forever for our Kaffe Fassett Collective Design Rolls to arrive.  We offer 4 colorways. Red, Green, Neutral and Blue. There are 30 2 1/2" strips in each bundle.  $34.50 per roll Here is a great pattern for the design rolls by Jaybird Quilts.  A baby quilt takes 24 assorted strips, a Lap takes 54 strips, a Twin takes 78 strips and a Queen takes 129 strips. Pattern is $10. And new fabric from Lecien is here!  Yummy Fat Quarters!  Yay! "Mochi Mochi" fabrics from Lecien are here! The colors are based on Japanese sweet treats called Mochi. Monica S. Snow is the designer of these darling prints.  We will be combining the "Flower Sugar" line with" Mochi Mochi"  This is Paris Apartment. We have 5 pieces in the line. "Treasures and Tidbits" from Kaufman by Piece O'Cake Designs. We have the whole line in fat quarter bundles and 13 prints on bolts.  2 fat quarter bundles will make this great pattern called "Off The Rail" by Jaybird Quilts.  How cute is this? Julie Herman is the designer of these patterns by JayBird.  What we have on bolts. Piece O' Cake designed an applique quilt for this line of fabric called "Fresh Picked Posies".  Full size patterns and great instructions. Can't wait to make this! Fusible applique of course! ;)  Here is one more pattern by JayBird Quilts, called Bamboo. We will have kits available ASAP using the "TidBits and Treasures" line. This quilt pattern works great for any fabric line. I am finishing a quilt using "Juicy Blossoms" from Quilting Treasures. I will reveal the sample soon. (Gotta sew the binding on)! New from Mary Englebreit, "A Friend is a Gift. We have 4 pieces in this line. Adorable!  For you coffee lovers we have "The Daily Grind" from Quilting Treasures.  We've got a free pattern for this fabric and Judith is working on a sample.  Detail. There is a fabulous panel that you can fussy cut. Vintage ads for coffee in many languages. Halloween is coming! I think we have the best selection of Halloween fabric ever. Here is our Robert Kaufman selection.  Cats, Owls, Spiders, Oh my!  Gotta love these elegant felines.  Jack O' Lanterns  Spiders  Cats and Dogs! We have 2 Fall wool applique kits ready to go. These include the pattern, Finca Embroidery perle cotton and all the wool felt needed to complete each project.  Harvest Bounty is a 8x32 penny rug table runner and 4 mug rugs. $54.  Pumpkin and Crow is a pattern for a pincushion and needlekeep. $24 We have made kits for 2 wall hangings for Fall.  Pumpkin Grins is 36x36. Kit is $38 and includes back and binding. This pattern by Eleanor Burns also has instructions for 4 pumpkin grins placemats (this fabric is sold separately)  Sunflower Wall Hanging Kit. $35 or $52 with the back included. 32x56. A few new patterns just in...  Any color way would be stunning in this pattern. Show off those amazing big prints! $10  Great pattern for fussy cutting large prints. Beginner friendly. And finally, look what I found in my local Antique Shoppe! This beauty is a "G" series made in Elizabethtown New Jersey between 1911 and 1920. It works too. We are using it for display.  The decals are called "Red Eye" Here is a pic of this beautiful scroll work on the metal plate.  It is in beautiful condition! Here is the case.  And I couldn't believe my luck. I scored this treadle table too!  Another great display piece! We have selected Amy Butler fabric now on sale!. Our class lists for September and October are on the website. waterwheelhouse.com Our "Couture Ruffled Clutch Class" was a blast. The ladies finished their bags and are planning to make more! Jessica VanDenburgh was a dynamite teacher, everyone raved! We are planning a second class on Saturday, November 5th for those of you who missed the August session. Stay tuned for more info. Here are a couple of pics from the class.  Jessica D.  Gluing the frame was tricky.  But with expert instruction, our students breezed right along.  Love Sara's fabric choices.  Ruthie used fabric from the Ebony and Ivory line by with a pop of red orange batik on the ruffle. Jessica supplied the glue, frame, screwdrivers and timers for each student. Student's supplied 2 fat quarters, matching thread and scraps for the ruffles. Here is a close up of one of Jennifer's samples we have at the shop.
 Jennifer also has frames with chains for shoulder bags and these frames are hypoallegenic and nickel free! Wow!

Finished my "Strawberry Picnic Quilt"  On the Waterwheel  Gracie wouldn't walk on it!  The back is a "cheater" whole cloth patchwork from Lake House Drygoods latest collection Annie's Farmstand. Actually a lot of the fabrics are Lake House with some wonderful strawberry prints from FabriQuilt and Michael Miller.  And our wonderful label!
