| October 23, 2011 Ooh La La! October  Ooh, La La! Lovely New Lark fabric by Amy Butler!  Stack O'Lark Fat Quarters! Would you like to get your hands on these beauties? Well....If you attend our Trunk Show and Make and Take Event on Saturday, November 12 at noon, you will be entered to win a bundle of this new line by Amy B. So what is this event all about? Jessica Vandenburgh of "Couture Clutch Purse" fame will be bringing all of her wonderful patterns to the shop and showing us samples of her bags and totes. After the trunk show, Jessica will be demonstrating how to make her latest pattern...Folded Fabric Ornaments!  Red and Green  Blue and White (Remember to click on any pic to enlarge) These ornaments are a NO SEW project. Jessica will get you started on making these fabulous decorative ornaments. How about making a bowlful of these in non-holiday fabric? What terrific gifts these will make. Kits will be available for purchase and will include the pattern, pins, fabric and embellishments to make one ornament. There is no charge for the Trunk Show. Call today to sign up for the Clutch Class on November 5th and /or the Trunk Show Event on November 12th Last weekend we enjoyed the Empire Quilt Fest in Clifton Park NY. Here is our booth...   Couple of Views. Here are a few of my favorite quilts in the show. They were all wonderful! Way to sew ladies!  loved the 3 D birds!  Very Cool! Art quilt.  Ruching...I want to Ruche!  Soft and beautiful! Love the gradation of colors! Pink and Yellow, yum!  Wild!  So impressive, our Vendor's Choice Award.  Very Waterwheel House!  Clever,clever! I apologize to these wonderful quilters for not including their names but I was to rushed to jot them all down. Hope to see you soon!
As Always, Happy Sewing! Shelley October 20, 2011 Waterwheel House Quilt Shop: October 2011 $5 Dollar club has reached new heights! October 08, 2011 Announcing The New $5 Club Here they are..... Ta Da! Pick your fabric!  This is the first block made in "Annie's Farmstand" fabric from LakeHouse.  More of this line. If you choose this, your quilt will be bright and cheery. Lime greens, yellow, orange, turquoise, red, black and white, kelly greens and pinks. Dots, gingham, florals, plaids and more! How Fun!  Or select bright batik fabrics! Tough choice, huh?! There are 14 blocks in this sampler style quilt. For the last 2 months you will make 2 blocks a month. Each finished block measures 12inches. Each block is a traditional pieced block. Your finished quilt will be bed size. Each month you will get the pattern for the block and the fabric. At the end of the 12 months there will be a finishing kit available at extra charge. This is a combination "Mystery Quilt" and "Block of the Month" type club. You may choose to do the club in person at the shop or have your blocks mailed to you.
Here is the scoop.... In Shop Club- Meets the second Saturday of every month for 12 months. You will get instruction on how the block is put together. You will get the pattern and the fabric. There are refreshments, door prizes, demos and show and tell. Cost is $5 per block. You pay $25 up front to register and this covers the cost of the first 5 months. At the end of the 5 months you pay another $25 for the next 5 months. The last 2 months will cost only $20 for the last 4 blocks. You must be able to attend the majority of the in shop meetings. In special circumstances you can pick up your block the during the week after the meeting. Club by Mail- If you opt to do this by mail, you will get your block instructions and fabric the following Monday or Tuesday the second week of each month.. The cost is $7 per block, $35 up front for the registration and first 5 months. You can register by calling the shop at 802-824-5700. We will charge your credit card $35 for the first five months. We will keep your card on file (under lock and key) and charge your card $35 for the second five months and $28 for the last 2 months. You will then get a picture of the finished quilt and can purchase the finishing kit by calling the shop. Important Note- Registration for this club closes next Sunday, October 16th at 5pm. You must opt for either In Store or By Mail. If you want to do a combination of the two, you must pay $7 per block for bookeeping purposes and let us know specifically the months you want the blocks mailed. The mail club is really for people who live too far away to come to the shop. So...select your fabric choice and call us with your credit card number! The first block meeting/mailing will be November 12, 2011. We hope you will join in the fun here at the WWHQS! Happy Sewing, Shelley and Judith PS Here is last years $5 Club quilt finished!  A paper pieced beauty, waiting to be quilted! Kudos to Judith for all her hard work and exceptional talent! October 04, 2011 Outstanding October  No we have not moved the shop to the Old Town Hall in Londonderry! But, we did confuse a lot of folks driving by. This was the scene of our 2011 Quilter's Challenge Party! Each challenger was given 3 paint chips. They were to match those colors to fabric and could add up to 3 more colors of their choice, plus black or white. The theme of the challenge was "The Four Seasons". We all brought a pot luck dish to share and gathered on this cold, wet Saturday to view the quilts and vote on our favorites.  These cookies were a big hit. As were all the yummy dishes on the tables.  What an amazing array of food with no two dishes alike! We had 18 projects presented and there were 25 in attendance. The Old Town Hall was a perfect venue for the event. Here are some of our outstanding entries.  Our 1st Place Winner was Marcia S. with her take on the theme! How clever.  Lydia whipped up this elegant pillow and won 3rd place! And...we had to have a 4th prize!  Another Vivaldi 4 Seasons theme made into a classy wallhanging by Mary B.! All the entries came with a written description explaining the artist's thought process and ideas. Voting was based on best interpretation of the theme and the best reproduction of the color scheme based on the paint chips. All of the entries were definetly winners!  Beverly chose the 4 seasons of life for her quilt.  A wintery mix from Carlita.  From Jane C. a convergence quilt.  Arlyn's inspiration was from Sarah Fielke, the "Material Obsession" gal. Lots of hand stitching and embellishing!  A tree of life from Helen B.  Gina's mousepad! Perfect repro of the colors!  Linda L. chose dancing tulips to represent each season. Great idea.  This is Nancy B.'s 4th quilt. Gee, I think we have a real talent here. This is a applique with a Hawaiian flavor. Wonderful interpretation of the theme.  Sue D.'s paper pieced beauty. Another great theme and color interpretation.  Virginia did a very good job matching colors! Way to sew!  Our 4 winners and their prizes! A grand time was had by all.
