| January 28, 2015 Patchwork City We have had many Quilters sign up for our Block of the Month "Almost 50 Shades of Gray" using Faith Jones pattern "Starfall". The registration period for Starfall ends this Friday, January 30th.  Starfall Block of the Month is a 12 month program. Our second Block of the Month offering is "Patchwork City" by Elizabeth Hartman. This is a real skill builder sampler type quilt. Elizabeth has created the most unusual modern blocks using traditional piecing, creative piecing and blocks using freezer paper templates. We will be doing 2 blocks per month for a total of 25 blocks. This is a 13 month program at $27.50 per month. You will receive the book the first month. Here are our first two blocks...  Violet and Magenta...each block finishes at approx. 14 inches and is constructed with 3 block units. The finished quilt will measure 90"x90" and will consist of all 75 of Elizabeth's wonderful blocks. Here is a peek at the 3rd and 4th blocks...  Block #3 Red Violet Block #4 Red  We will continue in "rainbow order" using wonderful prints from the shop with black and whites and gray fabrics in the mix. The sashing and borders are Kona Cotton in "Coal" We hope you will join us for this incredible journey into the world of Modern Quilting! These programs are by mail only. Call the shop 802-824-5700 to register. This program will begin in mid February and is geared towards the more experienced quilter. Our "Shop Hop" fabric for 2015 has arrived in all the participating shops. There are 2 batiks in a rose floral print in 2 colorways, navy and teal. Waterwheel House will be pairing these batiks with Kaffe Fassett shot cottons. Our pattern is in the design phase.  New Fabric...  L'Elephant from Clothworks...precious in 2 colorways! And from Dear Stella Fabrics the whole line of "Calicos"  Tiny modern petals. New Layer Cakes (10" squares"  Malka Dubrawsky's "Poems From Pebbles" "Color Theory" from V & Company  And Mixology by Studio. These 3 precuts are from Moda Fabrics. We have lots of patterns suitable for layer cakes too!  We are loving this new book featuring small projects using all Kaffe Fassett Collective fabrics.  The author, Beth Sheard, works in Kaffe's studio! We have "Gypsy Wife" pattern booklets back in stock.  Another pattern booklet...  By Cindy Taylor Oates, "Sew Cute Critters". This is fusible applique. Our employee, Robin, made this "Fancy Fox" quilt. The pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman.  This kit is available on the website. Another new kit using Denyse Schmidt's latest line "Hadley" uses 1 jelly roll and 1 charm pack. The pattern is called "California Roll"  We are accumulating some fabulous vintage Bernina Sewing Machines. This one is a mechanical version from the 1990's. Call the shop for pricing.
