| May 30, 2015 June Snippets  New fabrics! "Reel Time" from Zen Chic. We have all of these fabrics on the bolt too. This bundle is available on the website. We have jelly rolls and layer cakes for this line as well.  Also, Gardenvale by Jen Kingwell... on the bolt and precuts.  Look at these fun prints!  I have been working on the Dresden Plate Pattern that came with the line...  These are big blocks 16 inch finished. Here is a pic of the completed quilt shown at Fall Market...  And yes, we have a kit available here. Dresden blocks are easy with the EZ Dresden Ruler...  This is a great take along project for summer. Cut and piece the blades and do the hand applique on the road! The back ground fabrics are "Lakeside Primitives" from Moda. These are soft woven checks, plaids and stripes in rich dark grays, a great alternative to solid gray fabric. The blades are made even easier to piece because they are cut from printed broad striped fabric.  This is a great take along project for summer. We are starting to build our cotton and linen blend fabric collection and have added "Mochi Linen Dots"...  Great colors! This is 30% Linen and 70% Cotton. The blend makes great home dec projects, wearables and quilts! Judith finished our "Truck Quilt" sample from the pattern.  Great use for our wonderful black and white fabrics and text prints! A few more new patterns...  And...  Fun! New summer classes...yay! Check out the calendar on the website. We will continue our Modern Quilting Series with "Cultural Fusion".  More free form piecing techniques will be explored. We have a few spots left in this 6 week series. The new series begins on Tuesday, June 9th. Shelley will be teaching Machine Applique one of her favorite techniques on Wednesday, June 3rd ...  You can try tulips, butterflies, pretty dresses or maple leaves! Learn the basics of fabric fusing and stitching techniques. Shelley will also teach a Beginning Free Motion Quilting class. You can even try one of our wonderful Bernina's and their legendary stitch regulator (BSR). On Sunday June 21st, the Row by Row Experience begins. We open at noon on Sundays.  The theme this year is "Water". Our row features the Waterwheel House!  Free patterns for the row and kits will be available for anyone who comes into the shop and asks for one! Check out the Row by Row website for all of the details! We will also have fabric license plates for sale! We have a limited quantity of the fabric plates so stop by as soon as you can! Shelley May 02, 2015 May Snippets  Last May I was at Quilt Market listening to Jen Kingwell (Gypsy Wife) speak and show her wonderful quilts! We are very lucky she now has a US distributor and we can not only get her books and patterns, but also her first fabric line, "Gardenvale".  We have Layer Cakes (Ten Inch Square Packs) and Jelly Rolls in stock. The fabric on the bolt should be arriving next week!  You can refer back to my April post to see all the Jen Kingwell books and patterns we have in the shop or go right to the website. More new patterns...  Fancy Fox II by Elizabeth Hartman. Large and gigantic versions of her Fancy Fox block.  "On Holiday Bag" by Green Bee. Great weekend bags with additional organizer bag patterns included. There are 3 bag styles in the pattern. The largest bags measures 20 1/2" wide by 16" tall and the 3rd bag measures 14 1/2" wide by 16"tall. Small travel zip bag is 12 1/2" wide by 5 3/4" tall and the large travel bag is 12 1/2" by 8 " tall. Our new "Bon Voyage" linen blend fabrics would work beautifully for these bags. We also have the "leather" for the handles! Here are some of the linen blend prints in stock...   Rouge, Blue and Natural toile.  Patchwork linen in rouge and blue... And, "Polka Dot Bikini" by Sharon McConnell  This will be a blast to make with all of our wonderful polka dot fabrics and solids. We have lots of new Kaffe Fassett Collective Spring 2015 now in the shop. We have combined the newest fabrics with some of the Fall 2015 fabrics into bundles of (8) fabrics organized by color.  2015 Yellows and Golds  2015 Sapphire Blues  2015 Greens  2015 Blacks and Darks  2015 Pastel Grays  2015 True Blues  2015 Red, Orange, Pink These bundles can be found on the website too! Some new kits are now available...  Pretty Dresses, finishes at 50"x58" This machine applique kit includes the fabric for the top and binding plus the pattern. " Blocks" (45x55) is from the book, "Growing Up Modern" by Allison Harris.  The kit contains all the fabric for the top and binding. The book and back are sold separately. Sock Monkey Kit (42x42)  Kit includes the pattern and all the fabric including the back which is a brushed cotton, so soft! All new kits can be found on the website. Speaking of "Sock Monkey" we have these fabrics too...  Layer Cake and Jelly Rolls plus these fabrics on the bolt...  "Brushed cotton Brown" This is in the sock monkey kit as the backing. Comes in red too...  In quilting cotton we have...  And...  Who doesn't love "Sock Monkey"? From Edyta Sitar and "Laundry Basket Quilts" we have the new "Sticks and Stones" line. We have the batik layer cakes and fabric on the bolt to make this wonderful quilt...  I just finished my sample for the shop using this pattern and the fabrics. 002 (531x640) Kits will be available soon for this gorgeous quilt that mixes batiks with quilting cottons. This stencil made tracing the butterflies on the paper side of the Heat n Bond Feather Lite a breeze!  Copying curves can be challenging, but the stencil made tracing a snap! Hope you can come and see this quilt for yourself. Variegated King Tut thread was used around each butterfly...very pretty! "Best In Show" from Blend Fabrics is the cutest dog and cat fabric ever!  On white or brown...    We have the whole collection including chevrons, dots and banners plus an all over print...  In white or brown...  Love the banner prints...  In white or brown...  Our 2 Block of the Month programs, "Patchwork City" and "Almost 50 Shades of Gray" are well underway about to go into their 4th month. "China Shop" Block of the Month from Homespun Magazine is about to enter its' 4th installment. We have a few spots available for auto ship of the magazine starting in June. If you are interested in getting a hard copy of this Australian magazine each month, call the shop ASAP. Your first issue will be the June issue as we are sold out of all previous issues, sorry! China Shop Kits are still available and all past issues of the magazine can be downloaded from the internet. Here is a pic of one of my April Blocks...  I used Karen Kay Buckley's "Perfect Circles" for the flowers. My flowers look pretty darn perfect I think! And "Clover's" Bias Tape Maker to make the bias stems. We have these items on the website. I added some flowers to some of the other vases in China Shop...  Just can't stop myself! Here are a few pics from our customers past Block of the Month programs Judy Prohaska from Canton CT. showed off her "Gypsy Wife"...  Love how she extended one of the sections to make an uneven bottom edge. And her back, made from leftover fabrics saved each month...  Thanks Judy for sharing. Our "Swoon" BOM quilts are being displayed in area quilt shows...  This was our original version pieced by Nancy Johnson of Leeds MA. Evelyn Bogen from Amherst MA. added more blocks with some beautiful fabric selections...  Both quilts were quilted by Timna Tarr. Oh and very Happy Mother's Day to all Moms out there!
